The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office has named Joseph A Couch from Woodbine, Kentucky as a person of interest in the shooting that occurred at the Exit 49/KY-909 area.
Couch is the shooter who terrorized commuters on Interstate 75 near London, Ky shooting at them and injuring seven.
According to multiple posts on Facebook, Joseph Couch was arrested for 3rd Degree Terroristic Threatening on February 8th of this year and for a DUI in 2020. His sister-in-law also reportedly called the cops to report that he had threatened to kill his entire family, per reports from a scanner.
Other reports said he’d purchased an AR-15 with 2000 rounds of bullets Saturday morning. Couch has prior military experience.
Police were called about a suspect shooting at drivers on the Interstate from an overpass or wooded area around 6 p.m. Saturday.
Seven people were injured in the shootings but not all from gunshots.
“Some of them was due to an accident,” London Mayor Randall Weddle said. No one has been reported dead.
The Laurel County Sherif’s Office has declared him armed and extremely dangerous.
A statement from the Sheriff’s Office read: “Joseph A. Couch, is a Person of Interest in the shooting that occurred at the Exit 49/KY-909 area. If you have any information regarding the whereabouts or location on this individual please contact the London-Laurel County 911 Center by calling 911 or 606-878-7000. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO APPROACH
“Joseph A. Couch is a 32 year old white male approximately 5โ10 weighing approximately 154lbs,”
Police are currently on a manhunt for Couch.
