A fiery accident on the 401 highway tragically took the life of Omar Barzak, a famous dance TikTok star and Muslim community leader from London, Ontario, Canada.
Barzak was driving along Highway 401 near Ingersoll returning back to London when his car crashed into another car in the westbound lanes of the highway between Culloden and Putnam Roads.
The accident occurred in the early hours of Friday, April 26th, around 2 a.m.
The sad news of Barzak’s passing shocked everyone – his friends, family, community members, business partners, etc – as he had just begun to scratch the surface of his life being just 24 years old.
Barzak’s unlimited potential which he had already started to show glimpses of unfortunately was never going to be fulfilled, plunging all who knew and loved him into a deep state of mourning and regret.
“Our community is shattered. May Allah open the gates of heaven to our dear brother, Omar Barzak. Please remember him and his family in your prayers,” a friend, Deems AF mourned Omar on Facebook.
“We will never forget your infectious smile. This is how we will always remember you, taking care of others, one country at a time. Rest in eternal peace,”
Who was Omar Barzak?
Barzak was a Tiktoker, systems consultant, and community leader, from London, Ontario, Canada.
Originally from Palestine, he was a graduate of Western University, where he studied for a Bachelor of Management and Organizational Studies, Finance and Business Administration.
He graduated in August 2021, according to LinkedIn.
Omar worked as a systems consultant with Aligh HCM for the past 11 months. He was co-founder of Lammentna Inc. and previously Digital & Innovation Operations Manager for the Asala Entertainment Group.
In his role as a consultant, he aimed to provide effective service to IT leaders to help them out in making crucial decisions that enhance the capabilities of their business operations.
However, despite all his academic qualifications, it was Barzak’s extra-curricular activities with his best friend, Wasef Yasin, that brought him the most fame.
Barzak and Yasin teamed up together during their time at Western University and formed the Al-Asala Dabke Group.
From humble beginnings in their college days, they grew a massive online following and had amassed well over 1.3 million followers by the time of Barzak’s untimely death.
Yasin was actually the last person to see Barzak at an event for a friend in Mississauga.
He said his friend left late to return to London due to having to work the next day.
“He was like a brother to me. More than just a friend, more than just a member in the group to me,” Yasin said.
Barzak reportedly loved charity work, stemming from his Islamic roots which extolls the virtues of giving back as one of its five core pillars.
A fundraiser started to raise money for Barzak on launchgood.com to carry out charity works in his honor managed to raise over $130,000, epitomizing how loved he was.
“His life was obviously short-lived, but he really made the best out of it,” Yasin said, providing the perfect epitaph for his deceased friend.
The sun has dimmed on the life of a very promising young man but his legacy of hard work, discipline, and giving back to society will long be remembered.
A life well lived is never forgotten.
