Michael Iorizzo, an 18-year-old was killed following a four-vehicle collision in Havelock, North Carolina.
Iorizzo, who just graduated Havelock High and started his first semester at Community College for Engine Mechanics, was driving on Hwy 70 Monday when he lost control, resulting in a four-vehicle crash that claimed his life.
Heavy rain and standing water is believed to have contributed to the crash.
Havelock PD and Havelock Fire/EMS responded to the area of Hwy 70 W just east of Sermons Blvd. around 4:58 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 16 in regards to a motor vehicle accident.
According to an initial investigation, Iorizzo was driving eastbound on U.S. Hwy 70 W when he lost control, crossed the median into the westbound lanes and was struck by a vehicle.
The collision led to a four vehicle crash but had one fatality.
This accident is currently being investigated by the Havelock Police Department in conjunction with the North Carolina Highway Patrol. Anyone with further information about this accident is encouraged to call the Havelock Police Department and speak with Detective Kilgore at 252-447-3212.
